I'd been away from Hocotate for several days, as I had deliveries on different planets. When I got home, I was happy to see my family again, but something wasn't right. My wife, Pedrina, seems aggressive. She chops vegetables with a ferocity I've never seen before. My son, Omar, talks about killing someone at school. Then he tells me he's joking to reassure me. My daughter, Opal, also talks about committing murder, but she doesn't know what death to give to "that stupid girl who dares to make fun of my handwriting!" She also tells me about the "Green Rain." It's all very strange.
In the morning, I go to work at Hocotate Freight, as usual, only to discover horror and madness. There's blood at the entrance. I walk down a corridor and come across dead bodies. In the changing room, as I'm putting on my work uniform, I come across a Hocotatian woman being assaulted by two men. One to his penis in her vagina. The other has his manhood into her butt hole. I yell at them to stop, to let her go, but the Hocotatians ignore me. I'm rushing off to find Steve, the President. Only he can stop this madness.
As I make my way to his office, I see an employee stabbing another while laughing, a Hocotatian man forcing a woman to perform a blowjob on him, other corpses, other murders... I even see a Hocotatian woman eating another woman's corpse while calling her "her darling!"
I enter the President's office and my eyes widen. Steve is dead. Louie stands over his bloody corpse. He has a kitchen knife in his hand. The blade is stained red. Louie plucks out one of his eyes and eats it!
"Um... It's good." He said. "Maybe I should cook the other one."
"LOUIE!" I shouted without thinking. "What have you done?"
"Oh? Hello, Olimar. I'm glad to see you."
"What's going on here? Everyone's gone crazy! I... I saw..."
"What?"
"Corpses, murders, rapes."
"Ah~... it's nothing. That's the true nature of the Hocotatians."
"What are you talking about?"
Louie leaves Steve's corpse and approaches me. I step back reflexively because he's still armed.
"The Green Rain. It changed us for the better."
"What Green Rain? Opal mentions it to me but..."
"The green colored rain that fell on our planet two days ago. It takes away our fear, allows us to realize our darkest desires. If someone wants to kill their worst enemy, they can. If someone wants to rape the person they desire, they can. If..."
"But this is madness! This must stop!"
"No, Olimar, this must go on. I've always wanted to kill and eat Steve. He made us work like dogs without raising our wages! Plus, he always makes sure Hocotate Freight is in debt. He deserves to die!"
"But..."
"You know I'm correct, my friend. After I've cooked and eaten him, I'm going to murder my next targets, the All-Devouring Black Hole Loan Sharks!"
"Them? Why?"
"To never receive debts ever again!"
Louie starts laughing insanely. He scares me.
I wasn't on Hocotate when the Green Rain fell so I'm "sane", but am I the only one? Anyway, I cannot stay here.
"Uh, Louie?" I said hesitantly. "I have to leave. Do you mind?"
"No, do what you want, as long as you don't try to stop me, we'll still be friends."
"Good."
I hurry out of the dead President's office and Hocotate Freight. I'm still in my work uniform, but it doesn't matter. I hope Nanami, Louie's grandmother, is okay.
In my car, I drive through the city streets. I see Hocotatians vandalizing stores, stealing objects. I see someone crush the head of a Hocotatian woman with a large stone. I see a Hocotatian man being gang-raped by other men. His mouth, his pipe and his butt hole are full. My head fills with pain and it wants to explode. I feel like I'm going crazy too. Hesitantly, I return home. I call my children to come and see me. Pedrina tells me they've left the house.
"Where did they go?" I asked my wife, worried.
"I don't know, but I know they're going to fulfill their desires."
Their desires. Omar and Opal told me about murders. They're going to kill at their schools and I've got to stop them. I say goodbye to my better half and get back in my car.
Scrolling through the radio channels, I find a message broadcast by people unaffected by the Green Rain. There's a shelter for "survivors" in a decommissioned factory. The message invites all sane Hocotatians to get there as soon as possible. The message also mentions that a possible cure is being researched. This warms my heart. As soon as I've "rescued" Omar and Opal, as well as Nanami if she's still alive, we'll all go there together.
